The Amazon

Wild nature and the unique animal and plant world make the Amazon world famous. According to a study carried out in 2003, more than 90 million species of animals and plants live in Amazonia. It has three different types of water: clear water rivers (Rio Solimões, Amazonas, Rio Madeira), blue water streams (Tefé, Rio Tocantins, Araguaia, Rio Branco, Rio Tapajós)
(Rio Negro, Jari, Trombetas). Near Manaus, Rio Negro and Rio Solimões meet at the famous “Meeting of the Waters”. The Rio Negro dark brown, almost black and the Rio Solimões brighter flow next to each other over a length of about six kilometers without mixing. Different temperatures and different flow velocities create this fascinating phenomenon. Only about ten kilometers downstream, the two rivers melt into the Amazon. Manaus

Capital of the state of Amazonas and starting point for sensational excursions in the endless jungle appear in Manaus. Rio Negro

One of the most interesting tributaries of the Amazon is the Rio Negro. Generally free of mosquitoes and insects, it is characterized by numerous fine sandy beaches and magnificent river landscapes. This vast labyrinth of fresh water, with its inhabitants, including the rare deltas of the pink river, is protected by the government.
